Unlike the corporate main dealer, we're genuine BMW enthusiasts, and we let that lead us in everything we do, from your initial enquiry to collecting your vehicle, and everything in between.
Why we do what we do
Having worked in highly professional environments for a combined total of 19 years, while remaining genuine car enthusiasts throughout, it became evident that the gap between the level of service provided by corporate, unforgiving main dealerships and independent garages was so large that genuine enthusiasts and owners didn't know where to turn.
We aim to fill that gap by providing the customer service and experience of a main dealership at the same, if not better, price point of an independent specialist. At the same time, we hope to connect with fellow enthusiasts and owners by giving informative, photographic updates through a 1 to 1 WhatsApp chat during your vehicle's work progress. We believe this gives our customers a personalised experience, and it's something we don't think anyone else on the market offers.
Our story
BMTEK was founded by Brad and Ethan, two BMW Group certified technicians who believed they could deliver a better level of service outside the dealer network.
Ethan
Ethan brings a wealth of experience, starting out at a Porsche independent specialist at just 16 years old, seeing real world spannering from an early age. Eager to achieve more, Ethan completed an apprenticeship at a Porsche main dealer before becoming a Porsche certified technician.
He later moved to the BMW main dealer, where he carried out the necessary BMW training and assessments to become a BMW certified technician. Ethan stood out as a top performer to his manager and workshop controller at BMW — which is where he met our other founder, Brad, and where the BMTEK vision was born.
Brad
Brad's story is simple: BMW, BMW, BMW. At 16 years old Brad left school, and within weeks started his apprenticeship at a BMW main dealership. By 19 he was fully qualified and BMW certified, having dedicated over 6 months away from home on BMW training.
Over the next few years Brad worked his way up to diagnostic technician at BMW, while also spending weekends mechanicing for a race team working on classic touring cars and Ginetta race cars. At 23, Brad became workshop controller of the BMW dealer and trained to become a BMW Group certified workshop controller — learning much more than just how to fix cars. He learnt how to build a good team that delivers for BMW customers.
Both with a passion for cars outside the workplace — having personally owned BMW M vehicles as well as working well together — it's no surprise Brad and Ethan became friends during their time at BMW.
After 3 years of working together day in, day out, it was clear to them both that they could offer customers a better than dealer level service, for a fraction of the cost. In January 2026, BMTEK was born.
